UConn #1 in Sierra Club’s Cool Schools Rankings
On August 14, 2013, it was announce that the Sierra Club selected UCconn as its top “Cool School” for 2013 in recognition of their commitment to sustainability and environmental initiatives in our academic programs and throughout our physical plant.
The Sierra Club, the largest environmental grassroots organization in the United States, ranks schools based on sustainability data collected in several subject areas. Sierra spotlights the forward-thinking universities that are making a difference for the planet and emphasizing environmental responsibility.

This is a reflection of tremendous leadership and teamwork throughout the University community, with strong support from their various partners, friends and colleagues throughout the state. The leader of the environmental programs at UConn is Richard A. Miller, Esq., Director, Environmental Policy at UConn. Rich was a speaker at the EBC Connecticut Chapter 06-06-2013 Program on Environmental, Health & Safety Management in Today’s Changing World.
