Terracon Celebrates 50th Anniversary

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Terracon, a leading provider of environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials consulting engineering services, is honored to be celebrating its 50th anniversary this month. Founded on April 22, 1965, Terracon traces its roots to a small engineering firm in Iowa. The firm has expanded into a nationwide operation with more than 150 offices and 3,400 employees.

Terracon entered the Manchester market when it merged with Jaworski Geotech, Inc. (JGI) in 2007. The Manchester office has grown to include 32 employees with a staff of dedicated engineers, scientists, and technicians.

“We celebrate our employees this year, who provide quality service to our clients,” said James B. Matz, Manchester office manager. “We are also thankful to our clients who have trusted us with their business. Together we are helping to build a vibrant Manchester and we are making a difference in our community.”

The Manchester office has contributed to a number of recognizable projects including the Manchester Municipal Complex, Bow Distribution Center, Derryfield School, Manchester VA Center, Central Fire Station, Manchester City Hall, Elliot Hospital, and Manchester Transit Authority. In addition, the Manchester office has worked on a wide variety of private retail and commercial developments that have improved public service and greatly enhanced the community.

Terracon began as Soil Testing Services of Iowa, Inc., with Gerald Olson, P.E., as founder. In 1980, the company was renamed Terracon Consultants, Inc., and became 100 percent employee-owned. David Gaboury, P.E., the current president and CEO has led the company to nearly $500 million in revenues over the last 18 years. Additionally, the company has jumped nearly 30 spots in the past 10 years on Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms ranking, rising to No. 35 in 2014.

“This anniversary is about honoring our clients who have put their trust in us,” said Gaboury, “and our employees who work hard every day to give back to their communities. We’re just getting started and are excited for the next 50 years.”

Anniversary activities will take place throughout the year. The Manchester office will host a client appreciation event, as part of the celebration, in May. Notice of the event will be distributed to the media.
