Level 1 Building Operator Certification Course by National Grid

is pleased to present a BOC course for its commercial building customers. Building Operator Certification – BOC – is a nationally-recognized training and certification program for building operators offering improved job skills and more comfortable energy-efficient facilities. The training is led by highly regarded, experienced professional instructors. Participants receive a collection of valuable reference materials created and updated by facility experts in energy efficient operations and building systems. Certification provides a credential for professional development and offers employers a way to identify skilled operators.

Building engineers, maintenance technicians, HVAC and electrical trades, and others in the facilities engineering and maintenance profession.

THE BOC COURSE SERIES is comprised of classroom training, project assignments to be completed at the participant’s facility, and in-class exams administered at the end of each day of training. Classes consist of lecture, discussion, small group exercises, and facility tours. Facility projects require participants to demonstrate competence in locating building equipment, distribution pathways, and control points; calculating facility energy consumption; critiquing HVAC systems operation; and, sketching the facility’s electrical distribution system.

To become Level I certified, participants must attend seven classes, complete class exams and assigned projects for a total of 74 hours, or 7.4 CEUs.
