Profitable Power Plants:The WholesalePower Markets & RECs

Energy asset traders from GP Renewables & Trading will present the fundamentals of the organized power markets and the role of the Independent System Operators (ISOs) throughout the country in constructing and managing power markets.  We will delve into the mechanisms that exist for both small and large generation to maximize their asset values utilizing the ISO administered marketplaces for a variety of commodities that can be produced by LFG generation commodities.  Such commodities may include physical power, capacity, and ancillary services such as reserves and renewable energy credits.  We will also highlight the risks involved with becoming an IPP and the ways that the ISO, over-the-counter and cleared bilateral trading markets can be used to manage those risks and create stable returns for projects that might be challenged in their markets.

Who Should Attend

  • Developers of new solar, wind, fuel cell, biomass and combined heat and power projects

  • Energy and facilities managers seeking to reduce energy costs and shrink carbon footprints

  • Investors seeking to finance new renewable projects

  • Stakeholders of currently operational power plants
