Alexandra's Bio:

As an ecotoxicologist and environmental consultant in Exponent’s Ecological and Biological Sciences practice, Dr. Steele offers experience in behavioral ecology, environmental toxicology, water quality, product stewardship, and causal analysis, and works to help others better understand the impacts of environmental stressors.

Through her work, she has experience with the risks associated with numerous biological, chemical, and physical environmental stressors, such as legacy and emerging contaminants, PFAS, and micro- and macroplastics, Dr. Steele has supported clients by analyzing and synthesizing literature, evaluating relevant environmental toxicology information and risk assessments, as well as tracking developing or enacted legislative developments. She has experience assessing critical environmental toxicity information and reviewing ambient water quality criteria for industrial clients, as well as assessing toxicity test data for NPDES dischargers. She has worked with product manufacturers to evaluate relevant environmental toxicology information and risk assessments for product stewardship initiatives and has evaluated literature related to a variety of organic compounds and their effects on the health of agricultural plants and wildlife. She also has experience reviewing environmental permitting requirements (e.g., CWA Sections 404, 401, and 402). Outside of work and professional interest, she enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking and backpacking, thrifting, and watercolor painting.
