Salem, MA – November 30, 2009 – Bioengineering Group, a woman-owned science and engineering consulting and design firm, was honored as the Fastest Growing Company of 2009 at the sixth annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The Massachusetts-based company was recognized for doubling its staff size and sales in 2008–achieving a 100% increase in revenue and scaling up from 34 to 72 employees. Bioengineering Group founder and CEO, Wendi Goldsmith, accepted the award during award ceremonies held recently in New York City.
“Our entire Bioengineering Group team is honored to win this Stevie Award, and fortunate to have grown during most of our 18 years in business. Having also felt the pain of an entrepreneurial near-death experience, I am especially grateful to be growing during today’s rough economy,” said Goldsmith. “I believe our current outstanding growth stems from our conviction and success in sustainable design which is in high demand from our clients. We see interest in sustainability continuing to expand in the future, and hope that trend brings continued opportunity not only to our firm, but to all who embrace it.”
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide. This year’s winners were selected from over 1,110 nominations across 54 categories. In addition to their award for Fastest Growing Company of the Year, Bioengineering Group and Goldsmith were named as finalists in three other categories: Best Entrepreneur – Service Business, Environmental Stewardship Program of the Year, and Website of the Year.
