Massachusetts Department of Fish & Game: How DFG Advances Climate Resilience for Nature & People
Climate Resiliency in Massachusetts – Turning Insights into Action
A Webinar Series with the EBC Climate Change Committee
Program Details
Join the EBC Climate Change Committee for a webinar series exploring how Massachusetts state agencies are turning key insights from their past work into action in 2026 and beyond.
MBTA, Massport, MassDCR, MEMA, MassDOER, MA Fish & Game, and MWRA will present their key achievements in advancing climate resiliency over the past year, showcasing impactful projects, partnerships, and measurable outcomes from 2025. Agency leadership will also provide a forward-looking perspective on upcoming initiatives, programs, and policy developments planned for 2026 and beyond, offering insight into how each agency is preparing for evolving climate challenges. Together, these presentations highlight how agencies are implementing the Commonwealth’s ResilientMass Plan through coordinated investments, policies, and on-the-ground resilience actions.
In 2025, Massachusetts Department of Fish & Game (DFG) joined Governor Maura Healey to announce nation-leading Biodiversity Goals for the Commonwealth.
Biodiversity is a key climate solution – protecting and restoring nature is one of the most cost-effective and impactful ways to protect communities from flooding, drought, and extreme heat. And, protecting and restoring nature can enhance carbon storage and sequestration to meet our state’s net-zero emissions goals.
Join DFG Commissioner Tom O’Shea to learn more about this whole-of-government approach to conserve biodiversity and sustain our health and well-being, economy, food security, and way of life. The presentation will highlight key priorities for 2030, including land conservation, river and wetland restoration, coastal resilience and marine habitat restoration, and innovative financing mechanisms. Additionally, you will learn how the agency is centering climate resilience and decarbonization into operations through the DFG Strategic Plan for 2025-2030.
The webinar will conclude with a moderated Q&A session for attendee questions.
General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (1.0 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the webinar.
