EBC Wind Energy Committee Meeting – Triton Demonstration
April 27, 2010 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am
Topic: Second Wind’s Triton SODAR Wind Measurement Unit
This EBC Wind Energy Committee program will consist of a presentation in the NGRID conference room and then an outside demonstration of Second Wind?s Triton SODAR wind measurement unit.
Please join the EBC Wind Energy Committee to learn about Second Wind?s Triton Wind Profiler, the market leading remote sensing system for the Wind Industry that is accelerating the development of wind projects worldwide.
Many of us understand that, in order to determine the payback time of turbines, there is a need to measure the wind accurately. Previously, wind measurement was done with meteorological towers, and often encountered permitting delays, community opposition, high costs and other obstacles.
This EBC Committee meeting will offer the chance to see how easy a Triton is to install and operate and learn how Triton captures wind data covering the full rotor sweep of even today’s largest wind turbines. Triton can help rapidly screen many potential wind sites in an efficient and affordable way, providing the customer with the information they need about their wind resource to make educated future decisions.
Participants will also have an opportunity to hear from Al Robinson of Russell Electric, who recently used the Triton in his wind resource assessment campaign to begin development on a wind project.
Unless otherwise noted, all Committee meetings are for EBC members and their guests only. There is no charge for members to attend this meeting. Please register in advance. Please contact Megan Curtis-Murphy at mcurtismurphy (at) ebcne.org or at 617-505-1818 for more information or to sign up for membership.
