On June 24, 2015 EPA released the new US EPA EPA Multi-sector General stormwater Permit 2015 (MSGP). Industries in NH and MA have until September 2, 2015 to file their NOI for coverage and also update their Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans. The new permit has many new requirements including public availability of SWPPPs, new benchmark monitoring requirements, all electronic filing of reports, and monitoring results. Consultants will need to assist industries to comply.
Join us for this EBC Water Resources Committee morning meeting with David Gray, Industrial Permit Manager, U.S. EPA Region 1. Mr. Gray will provide a briefing on U.S. EPA’s Multi-Sector General Permit 2015 (MSGP).
EPA’s 1990 stormwater regulations established NPDES permit requirements for “stormwater discharges associated with industrial activity.” EPA issued the first MSGP for stormwater discharges associated with industrial activity on Sept. 29, 1995, and reissued in 2000, 2008 and most recently on June 4, 2015.
EPA’s MSGP applies in areas of the country where EPA remains the NPDES permitting authority and has made the permit available for coverage, which includes:
- four states: Idaho, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Mexico;
- the District of Columbia;
- all U.S. territories except for the Virgin Islands;
- federally operated facilities in Colorado, Delaware, Vermont and Washington;
- most Indian Country lands; and
- a couple of other designated activities in specific states (e.g., oil and gas activities in Texas and Oklahoma).
