EBC Stimulus Forum: The Federal Stimulus and Environment, Energy and Transportation

July 22, 2009 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pm

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (signed into law February 17, 2009) appropriates an unprecedented level of federal funding aimed at preserving and creating jobs, investing in transportation, environmental protection and other infrastructure, spurring technological advances, and stabilizing state and local government budgets.  The statute requires that spending and activity commence as quickly as possible in an effort to jump-start economic recovery.
This EBC Forum will follow up on the first EBC stimulus program in March 2009 and focus on how the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is allocating and distributing the federal stimulus funds with special emphasis on those activities most relevant to EBC members:

  • Energy  – Renewable energy, efficiency, clean tech, smart grid
  • EnvironmentBrownfields remediation, national diesel, reduction, SRFs
  • Transportation  – Roads, bridges, railways, electric vehicles

The Forum will be one of the single most influential forums for EBC members concerned with how the stimulus program will impact the economic crisis and their businesses. This first-of-its-kind forum presents key state and federal officials who will help you understand:

  • Where the fast moving stimulus funds are to be spent
  • How the funds will move desperately needed projects forward
  • How to maximize access to those funding sources

Speakers include:

  • Jeffrey Simon, Director of Infrastructure Investment
    Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Philip Giudice, Commissioner
Department of Energy Resources, Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs
  • Philip Griffiths (Invited), Undersecretary for Environment
Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs
