EBC Solid Waste & Renewable Energy Program: Solar Energy & Landfills with Mechanically Stabilized Earthen Berms
September 20, 2012 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pm
The EBC Solid Waste and Renewable Energy Committees invite you to attend their Program on Mechanically Stabilized Earthen (MSE) Berms in Landfill Construction and Closure. This EBC program will provide consultants, engineers, attorneys, government officials and regulators an opportunity to learn about the design, construction and performance of MSE Berms at landfills in the Commonwealth. The presentations will focus on the MSE Berm that was recently constructed and is in use at the active South Hadley landfill and the MSE Berms that have been employed in connection with the closure and post closure use of other closed landfills. In addition, the presentations will cover the solar array that was integrated into the South Hadley MSE Berm and the post closure uses integrated at the other closed landfills. Jay P. Viamari of Tighe & Bond and Brian Wehler of ARM Group will present the South Hadley landfill MSE berm and Rich Messer of Weston & Sampson will present the MSE berms used in closure and post closure landfill use in the Commonwealth.
