The organics food waste business in Massachusetts has been growing steadily over the last few years. Food waste is going to a variety of end sites, food rescue at schools, universities, and big businesses is on the upswing, and compostable dishware is gaining in popularity, creating its own challenges in the form of residuals and PFAS contamination. Learn the truth about the benefits and disadvantages of this dishware, from several perspectives.

This EBC Solid Waste Management program will discuss next steps in organics diversion and how the system will be affected if residential organic waste pickup increases. There is also concern that there is more end site capacity than food waste being diverted. How is that affecting the movement of food waste in the state?  Regulators and industry leaders will come together to discuss organics in Massachusetts  where is it all going?

A robust panel discussion between the speakers and the audience will conclude the program.
