This EBC Solid Waste Management Program will provide a focused look at the impact of PFAS chemicals on the solid waste industry. As most folks are aware, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that are considered harmful and persist in the environment. They are found in many household products throughout our society and thus their final communal resting place is often in a landfill or other solid waste treatment facility. Learn from experts what concentrations of PFAS are being found in landfill leachate, landfill gas condensate, ambient air emissions, etc., and the downstream impact on local POTWs. Information on how other states and countries are dealing with these impacts will be presented as well as the challenges that are faced when selecting leachate treatment technologies.

There will be ample time for open discussion and Q & A with attendees.
General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this meeting (3.5 training contact hours). Please select this option during registration if you wish to receive a certificate.
