This EBC Site Remediation and Redevelopment Program will focus on the management of asbestos-containing materials. The program welcomes officials from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Department of Labor (DLS), and MassDevelopment, along with Consultants and Contractors to discuss the important issue of asbestos abatement and disposal. Speakers will discuss current state and local regulations and formulate overall best management practices in the identification, notification, remediation and disposal of asbestos-containing material (ACM).

A significant part of the program will focus on three hypothetical Case Studies which will cover:

  • ACM Material Types (roofing, soil, mastic, etc.)
  • Friable vs. Non-friable
  • Exempt vs. Non-Exempt
  • Testing and Analytical Requirements
  • Reporting Requirements
  • Disposal Approval Process
  • Potential State funding options to overcome an environmental hurdle

Following each case study there will be a moderated panel discussion encouraging further discussion.
