EBC Seminar: Sixth Annual Update on U.S. EPA New England’s Program Initiatives and Priorities

Now in his sixth year as US EPA Regional Administrator, Mr. Varney will provide an overview of major programs and priorities for the New England Office. For this expanded EBC program, each US EPA New England Office Director will participate in a panel discussion and present the major program initiatives and priorities for 2007 for their respective offices. How will you, municipalities and regulated businesses, be impacted? Will new business opportunities be created by federal activities?

Office of Ecosystem Protection (OEP) is multi-media in focus, incorporating staff from the air, pesticides and toxics, water and RCRA programs. Its mission is to establish environmental standards and goals and build state and community capacity for meeting them. (OEP) is responsible for the protection of environmental resources and human health in an integrated and holistic manner.
Office of Environmental Measurement & Evaluation (OEME)
The New England Regional Laboratory (NERL) monitors and analyzes the health of the New England environment and its impacts on residents. To ensure quality of environmental data, EPA scientists and engineers use state of the art instruments and techniques and apply rigorous quality assurance methods. NERL is an award-winning green building.
Office of Environmental Stewardship (OES)
EPA New England’s Office of Environmental Stewardship includes both the Region’s Enforcement Office and the Assistance and Pollution Prevention Office. This 150-person team of scientific, engineering, technical, legal, and support staff promotes improved environmental performance from the regulated community. Our office encourages and recognizes responsible environmental management across all six New England states.
Office of Site Remediation & Restoration (OSRR)
The Office of Site Restoration and Revitalization (OSRR) focuses on restoring currently contaminated properties through management of all our responsibilities under CERCLA, the RCRA corrective action program and the Underground Storage Tank program . OSRR integrates the Superfund removal and remedial programs so that all the available Superfund regulatory tools are administered within a single office in the region.
