EBC Seminar Series on Offshore Wind Energy Logistics: Garnering Wind Power Offshore Session 2
November 28, 2007 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
Offshore wind has emerged as a promising renewable energy resource. The strongest, most consistent winds are offshore and relatively close to major load centers, particularly energy-constrained New England. Also, wind as a fuel is both cost-free and emission-free.
Governor Deval Patrick is committed to developing the offshore wind potential of Massachusetts. The Governor supports Cape Wind, and played a critical role in the state?s winning proposal for the Department of Energy national Wind Blade Test facility. The panel discussions will build on this growing momentum and interest in the burgeoning offshore wind sector, and will bring together experts to discuss various aspects of this sector?s growth and about the future of offshore wind.
This three part series of seminars will focus on the offshore wind energy industry as it is evolving in the US and abroad, the challenges of offshore wind and finally issues associated with deep water wind energy.
The first seminar provided a framework for offshore wind energy and the Offshore Wind Collaborative (OWC), theand the case for offshore wind in New England, and as well as an update on Technology technology basics and the local players opportunities and challenges for local stakeholders.
This second seminar will focus on the logistical challenges of organizing all of the critical stakeholders required to develop an offshore wind industry.
The Third EBC Seminar on Off Shore Wind (create link) is scheduled for January 31, 2008 and will focus on the host of challenging issues associated with deep water wind energy.
