The Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) is Rhode Island’s management, planning and regulatory agency responsible for the protection, preservation, development, and where possible, the restoration of the coastal areas of the state. The CRMC has been in operation for 51 years and during the past year has seen considerable exposure in the news media. From shoreline access legislation to aquaculture farming to sea level rise to offshore wind farm proposals, many informative issues have been identified and discussed.
This EBC Rhode Island Leadership program will provide an overview of the CRMC and its staff, how it operates and renders decisions, various program initiatives, and how the Council gets involved in the decision-making process.
Topics to be discussed will include:
- CRMC Regulatory Jurisdiction
- Composition of the Staff and the Council
- Working relationships with RIDEM and USACE
- Regulatory Program Changes and Updates
- Offshore Wind Energy
- Climate Change and Sea Level Rise
- Aquaculture in RI Waters
- Dredging, Harbor, and Marina Management
A robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the program.
General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (2.5 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the program.
