EBC Renewable Energy Committee Meeting
September 25, 2012 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Director of Clean Energy, HMMH
Subject: Small-scale Hydroelectric Opportunities in New England
Speaker: Carol Wasserman, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs, New England Hydropower, LLC
The New England Hydropower Company, LLC (NEHC) develops, operates and manages small-scale regional and local hydroelectric facilities. NEHC deploys a modern adaptation of a long proven technology, the “screw generator”. Based on a centuries old concept and employed for both pumping and generating over the past 50 years, screw generators can typically develop from 10kW and up to 150kW at dams 25 feet or less with larger programs up to 500kW. These generating stations can be designed to respect the traditions and landscapes of the region and do not require location at the center of the waterway, but are sited along the banks of each site. Carol Wasserman will discuss NEHC’s business model and its activities to develop sites in New England.
Unless otherwise noted, all EBC Committee meetings are for EBC members only, and their guests. There is no charge for members to attend this meeting. Please register in advance.
