Traditionally, the application of numerical models has been reserved for academic or high-profile and high-budget projects. As the problems tackled by ocean and coastal engineers get ever more complex, the application of numerical modeling to support a wide range of planning and design decisions has become increasingly familiar. Modeling can be used to provide insight on a wide variety of questions such as predicting storm surge elevations near critical infrastructure and understanding the influence of tidally-driven intracoastal circulation on water quality or developing design wave conditions for a shoreline protection project.
For this EBC Ocean and Coastal Resources program a group of industry experts and practitioners will present their practical experiences and perspectives to explore a range of numerical modeling applications, including case studies and lessons learned.
Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (3.5 training contact hours). Please select this option during registration if you wish to receive a certificate.
