Risk assessment and risk management often play an important role in environmental decision-making, although many times this role is not as transparent or well-understood as it could be. This program will look at emerging issues in Risk Assessment and Management. Policy makers have increased their focus on odors and indoor air exposures, relying on modeling for predicting risks and indoor air quality. The speakers will provide background on risk assessment and management, with presentations on the evaluation of landfill odors, vapor intrusion into homes, and an innovative tool, system dynamics analysis, as it can be applied to assessing risks from leaking underground tanks.
