EBC New Hampshire Chapter Program: Stormwater Management & Integrated Municipal Planning for the Great Bay National Estuary
Municipalities within the watershed of Great Bay are facing new requirements for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) and wastewater permits. This will require future design and planning solutions that will benefit greatly from integrated planning. These new requirements will have considerable costs to reduce stormwater and point sources to this important estuary.

The Great Bay Reserve is part of the Great Bay Estuary, a complex embayment and New Hampshire’s largest estuarine system. Fed by the tidal waters of the Piscataqua River that forms the boundary between Maine and New Hampshire, the estuary offers a variety of diverse habitats including eelgrass beds, mudflats, salt marsh, rocky intertidal, and upland forest and fields.
