Join EBC for a report-out and updates from the newly formed Soil Coalition
On February 7, 2022, the EBC Solid Waste Management Committee hosted a webinar “The Scoop on Dirty Dirt” to discuss strategies for contaminated soil disposal, available regional capacity issues, logistical hurdles, and provide a future outlook with diminishing soil disposal facility capacities. The webinar saw industry leaders present a consistent picture of the challenges faced as developers, consultants, engineers, and others try and move forward with projects in the New England Area. Recognizing the need to act, the panelists and other supporters came together to form a “Soil Coalition” to petition and collaborate with regulators for solutions to the soil disposal issues plaguing the industry. Over the course of the past few months, the Soil Coalition has actively been planning and pursuing a strategy to develop solutions and an action plan. Representatives of the Soil Coalition are scheduled to meet with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and present the action plan and discuss mechanisms for change going forward. Please join the EBC and representatives from the Soil Coalition for an update on progress, next steps, and long term goals to address the soil disposal issues within the industry.
