COVID-19 has affected every aspect of society, but one industry in particular has seen a dramatic shift since March – commercial real estate. With more people working from home than ever before, what does this mean for the future of the office? Is retail forever changed? Are some sectors doing better than others? Will cities survive?

Tamara Small, CEO of NAIOP Massachusetts – The Commercial Real Estate Development Association, will provide an update on the state of the industry as well as an in-depth overview on recent legislative and regulatory changes affecting commercial real estate. As the legislative session draws to a close, this session will provide information on a wide range of issues that will have a lasting impact on a key driver of the Massachusetts economy.

Moderated Discussion: Following the presentation, Bob Cox, Managing Partner of Bowditch & Dewey, LLP, will moderate an open discussion with the audience on issues of concern to the EBC membership.

Topics of discussion will include:

  • COVID-19
  • November election
  • Re-opening downtown
  • Climate and Flooding and Stormwater
  • Economic Renewal
  • Public & Private Indebtedness
  • Fair Housing Zoning Amendment
  • “Net Zero” – New Construction & Existing Buildings
  • Flow of People – MBTA
  • Space Utilization
  • 2021/2022 Legislative Session
