Join the EBC Infrastructure Committee for this webinar to learn about the journey of the Green Line Extension Project, a massive $2.3 Billion MBTA Project (inclusive of the current Design-Build effort, railcar procurement, real estate acquisitions, etc.) over 5 years in the making, to deliver a much needed and anticipated transportation solution.

The extension of the Green Line will provide the community with improved transit, reduced traffic congestion and reduced pollution. The project includes extending the Green Line 4.3 miles into Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford, adding 6 new stations, and replacing 1 station, replacing and renovating multiple bridges, constructing a multi-use community path and building a large vehicle maintenance facility that will serve the entire line.

In this session, you will learn how the project has progressed to 70-80% completion and the challenges encountered to lay the tracks in a densely populated urban area, in remediating dozens of properties with environmental concerns and contamination, and in meeting the MBTA’s Sustainability Goals to become Envision Certified. It has been an exciting and challenging journey to date, and we are excited to share the story about how far we’ve come and how close we are to completion.

A robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (1.5 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the webinar.
