This EBC Leadership Program will provide an opportunity for the EBC membership to learn about some of the programs, plans, and priorities that have been underway this past summer at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation from Katherine Fichter.
Katherine Fichter will discuss the MassDOT build-out of quick-implementation bicycle and pedestrian projects across the Commonwealth. Through a grant program called Shared Streets & Spaces, MassDOT is able to both respond to the COVID-19 crisis and consider longer-term needs for more sustainable transportation infrastructure and creating more livable downtowns.
Moderated Discussion: Following the presentation, Michael Scipione, CEO of Weston & Sampson, will moderate an open discussion with the audience on issues of concern to the EBC membership.
MISSION OF MASSDOT
The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation is to deliver excellent customer service to people who travel in the Commonwealth and provide our nation’s safest and most reliable transportation system in a way that strengthens our economy and quality of life. We are one transportation organization focused on customer service and safety.
MassDOT was formed in 2009 by the merger of the Executive Office of Transportation and Public Works and its divisions with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, the Massachusetts Highway Department, the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission.
