EBC Evening Program: James Hunt, Chief of Environmental and Energy Services for the City of Boston

Since James Hunt’s appointment as Boston’s Chief of Environmental and Energy Services, Boston has been designated as one of the greenest cities in the United States. The mission of the Environmental and Energy Services Cabinet is twofold: to preserve and enhance the resources of our built and natural environment and to promote affordable, efficient, reliable and safe energy systems for Boston residents.
Mr. Hunt oversees the Inspectional Services Department, the Environment Department, serves as chair of the Mayor’s Energy Management Board, and oversees programs and policies on green buildings, groundwater, park planning, recycling, renewable energy, and certain transportation issues.
Recent initiatives include:
- New Stretch Energy Code Ordinance
- Sustainability and Economic Development Goals
- CleanTech Incubator in the Innovation District.
- Climate Action Plan
- Solar Permitting Program
