EBC Energy Seminar: New Transmission: The Key to Renewable Resource Integration in New England
April 2, 2009 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pm
Industry Leaders and public regulators agree that substantial new transmission development within and perhaps outside of New England is essential to allow the New England states to meet new RPS standards and Greenhouse Gas goals. President Obama and Congressional Leaders believe greater FERC authority is needed to locate those transmission lines so that progress is not held up. However, potential disagreements on topics such as the relative balance of local vs. distant renewable energy resources, the role of centralized system planning in promoting the best renewable resources, and allocating the costs of such new transmission threaten to derail transmission development before it even begins.
At this exciting EBC half-day conference, MA DPU Chairman Paul Hibbard and leaders of regional utilities, independent transmission developers, wind developers, ISO-New England and Canada will debate these important issues in the context of the latest project proposals. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the positions of key stakeholder. Gain a better understanding of the key role of transmission as being essential to accessing sufficient new renewable energy resources.
