The extensive and reliable electric grid in the United States has fueled the nation’s growth since the 1900s. It has provided us with unprecedented growth all the way from the light bulb to microprocessors, USBs, RAM and LED light bulbs. Today we face new challenges and the grid needs some additional and new attributes to meet the demands of the 21st century to assist us to remain competitive and innovative. As a result of decarbonization, decentralization, electric vehicles, and energy access (i.e. solar, wind, etc.) the grid is in the process of rethinking itself. It will need to be resilient, reliable, flexible, secure, sustainable and affordable. This is a tall order! This EBC Energy Resources Program will address the challenges faced by today’s electric grid. All of the speakers are involved in creating a new grid and will tell you about their experience and the organizations they are affiliated with, in this area.
