EBC Energy Resources Committee Program Planning Meeting

Please join EBC for a program planning meeting of the EBC Energy Resources Committee on Tuesday morning July 26, 2016. The purpose of this meeting is to develop and plan energy programs and topic-specific committee meetings for fall of 2016. EBC members interested in participating and becoming more involved in the EBC Energy Resources Committee are welcome to attend.

Our last meeting took place while the net metering and SREC debate was underway, and some questions were raised about the actual costs of renewables in electric rates.

The Attorney General collects information on the electricity rates charged by the four Massachusetts electric distribution companies, and then analyzes the components that go into their rates. The AG then prepares spreadsheets which detail components of an electric bill that include incremental costs from state mandated energy policies.

Nathan Forster, a representative from the AG’s office, will address the EBC Energy Resources Committee to explain the latest analysis of electric rates in general, and specifically the contribution to your electric bill that renewables represent.
