This EBC Emerging Contaminants program will provide the latest state of the science on sampling and analysis of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).  Can PFAS be transferred from common products used during sampling?

This program will show the results of a study performed investigating the potential for cross-contamination from a number of commonly used sampling products.  Cautions for sampling PFAS beyond equipment and materials used will also be presented.  An update will be provided on the current analytical methods available for PFAS, including methods for drinking water, non-drinking water matrices, and aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), and the applicability of each.  Methods to measure total organic fluorine (TOF) and total oxidizable precursor (TOP) assay will be explained with examples of when these methods may be prudent to use.

The program will provide issues noted when analyzing complex matrices such as paper, milk, and pesticides.  A discussion of PFAS non-target analysis will be provided by EPA and will summarize what this method is and how it has been and can be used for different applications.  Finally, the program will conclude with a summary of how to evaluate and assess the usability of PFAS data in a typical analytical data report.

A robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (2.5 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the webinar.
