This EBC Emerging Contaminants webinar will take a break from PFAS and will focus on another emerging contaminant group that is on the horizon and already starting to be regulated.  Specifically, we will focus on Microplastics.  Microplastics is an emerging field of great interest as plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues facing our planet.  The presentations will focus on what Microplastics are, where they come from, and why we should be concerned.  The latest information on toxicity and health effects will be discussed.  We will look at some specific issues associated with Microplastics in food waste packaging plants and compost.  There are currently a wide variety of test methods aimed at identifying and quantifying Microplastics in all types of waters, organisms, and consumables; the program will provide information on these analytical methods, how the methods can be applied, and their challenges. Examples of how Microplastics analytical data are reported will be provided.

A robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (2.5 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the webinar.
