On March 3, 2021, the EPA published a Final Regulatory Determination for Contaminants on the Fourth Drinking Water Contaminant Candidate List (86 FR 12272). There were 109 contaminants on the Fourth Contaminant Candidate List, and of those, EPA made final regulatory determinations for eight of those contaminants. Of those eight, only two, perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), were determined to warrant further regulation following the process in the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). We are now waiting for EPA to propose a maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG) and maximum contaminant level (MCL) for PFOS and PFOA.
On March 14, 2023 EPA announced the proposed National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) for six PFAS.
What will this mean for our municipalities? What will this mean for our industrial clients? What will happen to the state MCLs? Will the proposed MCLs become new groundwater standards? What about industries that discharge effluent into a potential potable water source? Let’s discuss together the potential impacts.
EBC Discussion Meetings are open to EBC Members only. The intention of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for EBC Members to connect with others and discuss a current issue in the industry. Moderation, provided by Elizabeth Denly of TRC Companies, Inc., will be light. All are encouraged to ask questions and provide their thoughts.
