EBC/DOER/MassDEP Renewable Energy at Closed Landfills Workshop
July 26, 2012 @ 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Environmental Business Council of New England
Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources
Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection
Generating solar and wind power on former municipal landfills makes both environmental and economic sense. It provides clean renewable energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and creates new revenue streams for cities and towns. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and Department of Energy Resources (DOER) – with support from the Environmental Business Council of New England – are presenting this workshop to provide you with the tools you need to assess the redevelopment potential of closed landfill sites, navigate the permitting process, and harness state renewable energy incentives. The program will showcase successful renewable energy installations on closed municipal landfills, including a 2.3 megawatt solar array in Easthampton and a 1.8 megawatt wind turbine in Kingston, and other projects that are currently underway across Massachusetts. There will be ample networking opportunities, and both a continental breakfast and a deli lunch will be provided.
Registration: 7:00am – 8:00am
Workshop: 8:00am – 4:00pm
