Join the EBC Dam Management Committee for a tour of six fish passage and river restoration project sites in Southern Rhode Island. The project collectively restores connectivity along approximately 32 miles of the Pawcatuck River to support sustainable populations of river herring, American shad, and American eel, reduces the risk of dam failure, and enhances flood resiliency. This site visit provides unique and practical examples of different fish passage methods employed at each site including full and partial dam removals, a denil fish ladder, and rock ramp fishway. Project team members will be available at each site to discuss project aspects ranging from funding, community engagement, design, permitting, construction issues and other challenges.
A detailed program agenda that includes a map and parking information for each stop will be sent via email to all registered attendees in advance.
Sites Include:
- Kenyon Mill Dam Removal and Nature-Like Fishway Project
- Horseshoe Falls Dam Fish Ladder Project
- Shannock Falls Dam Removal River Restoration Project
- Bradford Mill Dam Removal and Nature-Like Fishway Project
- Potter Hill Dam Fish Passage Restoration Project
- White Rock Dam Removal River Restoration Project
All are invited to gather at The Malted Barley immediately following the conclusion of the program to continue the conversation with the program chairs, site visit guides, and colleagues.
General Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (3.0 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the program.
