This EBC Connecticut Offshore Wind Webinar will discuss how recent renewable energy procurements by the State of Connecticut act as the catalyst for creating jobs, infrastructure improvements, a growing workforce, and a new supply chain for offshore wind services and equipment manufacturing in Connecticut.

Revolution Wind, a joint project between Ørsted and Eversource Energy, includes 304 MW of renewable electricity for Connecticut and an estimated $77.5 million in port improvements in New London. In February 2020, the Connecticut Port Authority (CPA), the state’s quasi-public agency responsible for promoting and coordinating the development of the state’s ports and maritime industry, terminal operator Gateway Terminal, and joint venture partners Ørsted and Eversource have finalized the agreement to redevelop State Pier into a state-of-the-art port facility through a combined public-private investment of $157 million. In addition, community investments and announcements from the developers have been made for partnering with local companies to develop a local offshore wind supply chain and workforce.

Vineyard Wind’s proposed 804 MW Park City Project was selected in response to the State’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (DEEP’s) 2019 solicitation for offshore wind facilities. Vineyard Wind is now working with Governor Lamont, DEEP and the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) to plan for port improvements and supply chain developments that will deliver jobs and economic development opportunities to the Bridgeport region. Park City Wind could generate approximately $890 million in direct economic benefits and create thousands of jobs across the life of the project. The project will also provide energy cost savings to Connecticut ratepayers, while delivering a reliable source of fixed price, low cost renewable energy to mitigate the negative economic impacts of climate change.

A robust question and answer panel discussion between presenters and attendees will take place following the presentations.
