Dredging keeps waterways and ports navigable, and assists coastal protection, land reclamation and coastal redevelopment, by gathering up bottom sediments and transporting it elsewhere. The seven arms of the Nile were channeled and wharfs built at the time of the pyramids (4000 BC), there was extensive harbor building in the eastern Mediterranean from 1000 BC. During the renaissance Leonardo da Vinci drew a design for the first drag dredger or “mud-drag”. Well a lot has changed since the 15th century.
This EBC Ocean and Coastal Resources annual conference will provide attendees the opportunity to learn more about the advances in hydrographic survey, sample collection, special and grade control and advancements in dredges themselves.
Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (3.5 training contact hours). Please select this option during registration if you wish to receive a certificate.
