Location: Brookline, MA (eligible for flex / remote)

Established in 1990, the Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) was the first membership organization in the United States established to support and foster the development of the environmental industry. Made up of over 200 companies, the EBC membership is a diverse group of businesses specializing in engineering, consulting, environmental and energy technologies and services, waste management, remediation services, laboratories, and analytical testing, as well as financial firms, higher education programs, and government agencies. Through meetings, programs, and events EBC provides our membership with information and contacts to manage and expand their business and raises the visibility of the industry in New England.
The Operations and Programs Coordinator will support all aspects of EBC’s nonprofit operations, including financial reporting, processing payroll, benefits and insurance administration, and accounts payable and receivable. The Coordinator will report on business metrics to EBC staff and the EBC Board of Directors and will take minutes at EBC meetings. In addition, the Coordinator will support and attend EBC meetings, programs, and events and will be responsible for the successful project management and execution of 3-5 programs per month.
EBC has a small, nimble staff committed to providing excellent meetings, programs, and events while operating a successful and highly professional membership association. Our team structure creates unique learning opportunities for staff to gain in-depth knowledge and experience with nonprofit operations, events, and membership management that is not possible within larger organizations.
Responsibilities and duties:
Financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll
Coordinating EBC’s benefit programs for participating employees
Attend in-person EBC Board of Directors Meetings and take meeting minutes
Support and attend EBC’s programs and events, independently execute several webinars and in-person, on-site programs each month
Support EBC’s website maintenance
Other administrative tasks as needed
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or Associate’s Degree with 2-3 years’ relevant experience
1-2 years’ experience working with financial data and reporting – knowledge of QuickBooks Online a plus
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office – especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
Professional written and spoken communication skills
Ability to self-direct and manage tasks efficiently
Outgoing and adaptable personality, interest in meeting new people
Valid driver’s license required
Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 annually

EBC covers the employee cost of the Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave payroll tax

Fall / Spring Intern
The Environmental Business Council of New England is seeking an Intern in our Brookline office to assist with day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks. Undergraduate students, especially second and third year students, are encouraged to apply. Interns are expected to commit 10-12 hours of in-office time for the academic semester. $15.00 hourly wage.
Intern responsibilities primarily entail office and administrative work, including data entry, database maintenance, and website maintenance. He/she may also be responsible for various business or nonprofit management projects, and gain valuable exposure to the environmental industry through offsite EBC programs, as well as to nonprofit operations in general. Apart from the intern’s in-office duties, there are multiple programs and events that the intern will be expected to assist in managing.
The job description is broad and applicants should be prepared to handle multiple tasks at once. The individual should be proactive, outgoing, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a stellar work ethic.
Current enrollment in a 4 year or community college
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to operate online databases
Exceptional organizational skills, careful attention to detail
Ability to function independently
