January 30, 2007 – Rizzo Associates has changed its name to Tetra Tech Rizzo. “As a wholly owned subsidiary for six years, we decided that the time was right for the change,” said EBCNE Board Member Ed Ionata, Senior Vice President of Tetra Tech Rizzo. “Being part of Tetra Tech provided the opportunity to expand to the far reaches of the globe. Today, one third of our business is devoted to work overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, an accomplishment that we attribute to being part of Tetra Tech, a $1.4 billion consulting firm.” Tetra Tech is now the eighth largest design firm in the United States and is recognized as a national and international leader in civil and environmental engineering and scientific services.
While expanding overseas, Tetra Tech Rizzo is also providing engineering services for the MWRA Blue Hills Covered Storage Design Build Project, the Westwood Station Mixed Use Development, and the redevelopment of the South Weymouth Naval Air Station. According to the Boston Business Journal, Tetra Tech Rizzo had the largest one year percentage increase in the number of employees in Massachusetts, going from 128 in 2005 to 151 in 2006, an increase of 17.9 percent. Its New England staff of 180 is enhanced by the power and reach of a worldwide engineering firm with over 7,500 associates in 250 offices around the world.
