EBCNE Announces Michael J. Scipione as the Recipient of the 2016 EBC Stephen G. Lewis Merit Award

May 13, 2016 – Boston, MA – The Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) is pleased to announce that Michael J. Scipione, President of Weston & Sampson, is the recipient of the 2016 EBC Stephen G. Lewis Merit Award for Service to the Environmental – Energy Industry.

Since joining Weston & Sampson in 1985, Mike has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and expansion into renewable energy services. Under his direction, Weston & Sampson has helped clients throughout the region evaluate, develop, and fund wind energy, solar energy (photovoltaic), and geothermal projects, including the award-winning solar energy development on Cape Cod landfills.

A professional engineer in all the New England states, Mike has been active in and/or held offices in national and regional professional organizations throughout his career, including the Environmental Business Council, the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers.

Mike holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is also a graduate of ACEC’s Senior Executive Institute and Harvard Business School’s Program for Leadership Development. He has served as Weston & Sampson’s President and Chief Executive Officer since 2005.

The Environmental Merit Award for Service to the Environmental Industry was established in 1995 to honor a senior level individual in the environmental industry in recognition of their meritorious service, leadership, and dedication to the quality of the environment and to the development of the environmental industry in New England.

To honor and acknowledge the special contribution of Stephen G. Lewis to the environmental industry, a resolution of the Board of Directors on October 2, 2000, advanced the name of this award to the Stephen G. Lewis Environmental Merit Award for Service to the Environmental Industry.

Mike will be honored at the Annual EBEE Awards Celebration on June 16 at the Marriott Hotel in Newton, Massachusetts.
